Apicoectomy

An apicoectomy is a surgical procedure that attempts to remove infection from the tip of the root of your tooth inside the jawbone. A filling is placed to seal the end of the root afterwards. It is possible that this type of infection can occur without feeling pain. This procedure may be needed when an infection develops or persists after having a root canal.

During a root canal treatment, canals are cleaned, and inflamed or infected tissue is removed. Root canals are very intricate and in some cases debris can remain causing issues with healing and re-infection.
